Community Organizing
Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center engages residents and community members to strengthen neighborhood belonging, promote housing stability, and support community well-being. Through community engagement, educational events, and collaborative partnerships, BHNC helps neighbors identify shared concerns and work together toward solutions that advance equity and opportunity.
As a nonprofit organization, BHNC participates in civic and policy conversations that directly impact the communities we serve, particularly in areas such as affordable housing, neighborhood stability, and access to resources. All advocacy and public engagement conducted under the BHNC name must align with our mission, comply with our responsibilities as a 501(c)(3) organization, and receive approval from BHNC leadership and governance structures.
Community engagement activities are intended to strengthen relationships, elevate community voice, and inform BHNC’s programs and partnerships. BHNC leadership, in consultation with the Board of Directors, makes decisions about organizational advocacy, policy positions, and levels of involvement in external campaigns.
